Stay tuned for more to come!
Erika Davis-Pitre and her husband Michael have 4 children – one daughter (38) and three sons (34, 32 & 24). They also have a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons(10 & 3).
She and her husband have recently moved back to San Francisco full-time after living in Connecticut for more than a decade.
They have been unschooling for many years and love it, so Erika is always looking for opportunities to share their unschooling joy with others.
Erika has spoken at many un/homeschooling conferences, led quite a few funshops/workshops and has hosted and participated in many round table discussions about unschooling all over the US and Canada.
She especially enjoys talking about unschooling teens, sharing the joy of unschooling and celebrating diversity through unschooling.
And she is a Artist Trading Card(ATC) fanatic-if you don’t know about ATCs please ask!
We are excited to welcome back Nance for 2017!
Do you find yourself trying to explain and justify your unschooling choice? Do you often face criticism from family and friends? Sometimes this can leave us feeling frustrated and unsure about our decisions. Join Nance as she helps us to let go of the criticism and feel an even greater sense of confidence with our decisions.
* ask permission. Do what you and your children like.
* explain/justify/compare. Enjoy.
Revel in the freedom you have given yourself and your family.
Confidence and peace with your choice will come with information, experience and time. Give yourself the gift of time to adjust, to learn, to experience. Relax into accepting this isn’t the normal, average lifestyle — and find out how much fun that is!
Nance Confer runs Florida Unschoolers, an umbrella school for over 5,500 unschoolers and other homeschoolers across the state.
Nance’s two children were unschooled for most of their younger years. They are now wonderful young adults — one is a senior in college and the other just started grad school.
She lives in Hobe Sound and enjoys a quiet, small-town life with her husband of 38 years.
Want to connect with other dads who have been unschooling for a while? Come listen to our dad’s panel. This will be an informal gathering where anyone can ask questions, talk about experiences or just listen in. Hosted by Andy Polce, Arp Laszlo and Chris Cappella.
Mary has been unschooling her children since 2009. What began as a temporary solution to severe anxiety for her oldest in 7th grade, became a lifestyle change after experiencing how lifelong learning and the principles of living in respect with one another reduced her children’s severe anxiety and depression. Unschooling literally saved the life of her oldest, Max, and they are both going to be speaking regarding the realities of depression while unschooling.
Andi is an advocate for self inspired learning. She has been homeschooling/unschooling for 5 years and loves every minute of it! Andi is also a proponent of “yes” and strives for a family environment with more “yes” and less “no”. She lives this philosophy daily with her 9 yr old autistic son, Ryland and her 11 yr old son, Carter. Andi is an avid reader and enjoys remodeling, homesteading, music, and the beach in her backyard. Andi, and her husband of 17 years, Nathan, live in Jacksonville Florida.
